Touring & Tent Pitches Terms and Conditions

These Terms and Conditions apply to all bookings for touring and tent pitches at Port nan Gael Campsite, Isle of Mull. By making a booking and/or staying on site, you confirm that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by these terms.

1. Booking & Payment

Once payment is received, you are permitted to stay on site for the allocated duration paid for. All balances must be paid in full prior to arrival.Under 16s must be accompanied by their parents or legal guardians.

Any changes to dates, party size, vehicles, or additional requirements must be requested in writing via camp@portnangael.co.uk as soon as possible and no later than 3 days before arrival. Changes are subject to availability.

The maximum party size per pitch is 5 people. Accurate booking information must be provided at all times. Port nan Gael reserves the right to cancel bookings where incorrect or misleading information has been supplied.

Guests under the age of 16 must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian.

2. Contactless Arrivals & Arrivals Screen

Port nan Gael operates a fully contactless check-in system and does not have a staffed reception.

Upon arrival:

  • Park in the designated arrivals layby.
  • Connect to site WiFi if required.
  • Check the digital arrivals screen to locate your booking surname and pitch allocation.

By making a booking, you consent to your booking surname being displayed on the arrivals screen on your day of arrival solely for check-in purposes.

This information is used only for operational check-in and is not retained or displayed beyond your arrival day.

3. Check-In & Departure

  • Check-in: From 1:00pm
  • Departure: By 11:00am

Guests must occupy their allocated pitch only. An empty pitch may already be reserved. Moving pitches without written approval is not permitted.

If you wish to extend your stay, this must be completed online before 11:00am on your departure day and is subject to availability.

Walk-in guests must book via the online system using the arrivals area WiFi. If the campsite is full, overflow parking may be available by arrangement with the shop (before 8pm) or hotel (after 8pm).

4. Cancellations & Changes

  • More than 7 days before arrival: Full refund
  • Within 7 days of arrival: No refund; date change may be offered

No refunds are provided for:

  • Weather conditions
  • Ferry cancellations
  • Late arrivals or early departures
  • Force majeure events

Refunds (if approved) may take up to 28 days to process.

Guests are strongly advised to obtain holiday/travel insurance.

5. Guest Courtesy & Behaviour

Port nan Gael is a quiet, nature-based campsite. Guests are expected to behave respectfully towards other guests, staff, wildlife, and the surrounding community.

All guests agree to:

  • Treat other campers with courtesy and consideration
  • Keep noise to a minimum at all times
  • Follow all site rules and safety instructions
  • Respect the natural environment and avoid damage to land, facilities, or wildlife

Quiet hours: 11:00pm – 7:00am.

Anti-social behaviour, excessive noise, intoxication causing disturbance, or failure to follow site rules may result in immediate removal from site without refund.

6. Dogs & Pets

  • Maximum of 2 dogs per pitch
  • Dogs must be kept on leads at all times
  • Owners must clean up after pets and use designated bins
  • Dogs must not be left unattended on site
  • Dogs must not bark continuously, especially during quiet hours

Dogs must:

  • Be vaccinated
  • Be treated for fleas
  • Be clean prior to arrival

  • For safety, insurance, and guest comfort reasons, we do not accept: Any dog prohibited under UK law
    Any dog that may be considered a “type” under the Dangerous Dogs Act 1991 (Bully-type dogs or similar breeds). This policy is based on appearance and behaviour, not solely on breed name.

Owners are fully responsible for their pet’s behaviour, welfare, and any injury or damage caused. Port nan Gael accepts no liability. A dog run and wash area are available for guest use.

7. On-Site Facilities & Guidance

There is accessible facilities available but please ensure these are left available for those requiring the following:

  • Wet room shower
  • Grab rails for Toilet
  • Baby changing table and baby bath

Travel cots and highchairs are not provided and must be arranged in advance.

8. Safety Rules

For guest safety:

  • Speed limit on site: 10mph
  • Children must be supervised at all times
  • Guests should take care near roads, water, tides, and natural hazards
  • Parts of the site are unlit; guests should bring torches

Fire & cooking:

  • BBQs must be raised off the ground and attended
  • Open fires only permitted in raised fire pits
  • No ground fires allowed
  • No firearms permitted

Electric vehicles:

  • Charging from pitch hook-ups is strictly prohibited
  • Use the designated EV charger only

Swimming:

Swimming in the loch is at your own risk. Avoid swimming alone and be aware of tides.

9. Management Rights

Port nan Gael reserves the right to:

  • Refuse admission
  • Remove guests who breach these terms
  • Reallocate pitches when necessary for operational reasons

No refunds will be issued in cases of rule violations or removal due to misconduct.

10. Liability

Guests stay at Port nan Gael at their own risk.

The campsite is not liable for:

  • Loss, theft, or damage to personal property
  • Injury unless caused by proven negligence
  • Travel disruptions, weather, or external events

11. Agreement to Terms

By making a booking and/or staying on site, you confirm that:

  • You accept these Terms & Conditions
  • You consent to surname display on the arrivals screen for check-in purposes
  • You agree to follow all site rules and courtesy expectations

Inn Terms and Conditions

Booking

  • The room price you pay is quoted when your booking is requested
  • We will confirm your reservation by email. Please check the details of your stay are accurate on receipt. Terms and conditions apply from receipt of this reservation confirmation
  • Online Travel Agents and digital channels may hold their own terms. These terms and conditions will apply when making a booking through these channels
  • A credit or debit card will be required to secure your booking with us
  • Details of the lead guest for each room must be entered during check-in together with nationality details
  • Direct bookings can be made through our website, in person or by telephone or email
  • Guests must be 18 years old. Under 18’s are only permitted to stay in the Inn if accompanied by an adult
  • Maximum occupancy is two adults
  • Room booking prices are per room, per night, inclusive of VAT
  • Breakfast is not included in the room price. This option can be added to your reservation
  • All extras must be settled in full before checking out of the Inn
  • If you think you’re likely to arrive after 11pm please inform us at your earliest convenience
  • Rooms must be vacated by 10 a.m. on the day of departure. If you do not adhere to this you will be charged a late check-out. Late checkout fee is equal to one night’s accommodation
  • You must not smoke anywhere inside the Inn this includes e-cigarettes
  • Permitted smoking areas can be identified on arrival
  • You must not engage in any unlawful activity during your stay at the Inn
  • You must not bring any pets into the Inn without prior permission. All pets are excluded apart from assistance dogs and dogs booked into dog friendly rooms
  • If you or anyone in your group cause damage or loss to the Inn at Port Nan Gael, guests or guests property, you will be responsible for damages or losses caused

Cancellations

  • The Inn offers a full refund for 1 booked room cancelled up to 7 days prior to arrival.
  • For 2 rooms we require full payment 14 days before arrival date. After this date no refund is offered or due. You can cancel free of charge 14 days prior to arrival.
  • For 3 rooms or more, a 50% deposit is required to complete the booking. This is required in full 28 days before arrival date.  After this date no refund is offered or due. Balance will be due 14 days before arrival.  Cancellations can be made free of charge 28 days prior to arrival.
